Emmerdale’s Ned Porteous reveals Joe Tate’s dangerous power games with Debbie Dingle
Emmerdale star Ned Porteous has revealed that in a surprise move, Joe Tate and Debbie Dingle are back together - and dad Cain Dingle is not happy!
Emmerdale’s Ned Porteous has talked to Soaplife about the latest shock twist in the Joe Tate and Debbie Dingle saga that sees them reunited.
What’s the story?
The Dingle clan are in a right tizz when they discover that Joe Tate has got his arms around Debbie Dingle again. There’s more to the renewed romance than meets the eye and it could see Joe facing a deadly enemy in Debbie’s furious dad Cain Dingle. “Joe has probably underestimated Cain,” actor Ned Porteous has confessed to Soaplife.

Soaplife: How does Joe feel knowing Debbie ordered that acid attack for him?
Ned Porteous: “He was very shocked. What she did could have caused him a lot of horrible damage and it’s heartbreaking to know that Debbie wanted that for him. He expected a certain amount of revenge from Debbie, but he didn’t anticipate that she would go that far.”

S: Why are Joe and Debbie back together?
NP: “He and Debbie have come to an arrangement. Of course, her family don’t like it – and it’s easy to see why, after everything that has gone down, their relationship is raising a few eyebrows.”
S: Does Joe having feelings for Debbie?
NP: “Let’s just say that Joe’s relationship with Debbie has a lot of layers. Joe likes power. He wants everything and if he can’t get something, he goes through extraordinary lengths until he can. Of course, you can’t force genuine emotions and that is something he’s yet to learn.”
S: Where do you see Joe’s future?
NP: “I’m sure whatever happens, it will be interesting and packed with mystery and action!”
S: How do you like being up at Home Farm?
NP: “I absolutely love working on the new set. It’s so beautifully artistic to shoot in. It’s got a lot of new toys and tricks – they’ve got a gym where the office used to be, which is great fun.”
S: Could Joe be properly integrated in village life?
NP: “I think would need to perform one heck of a miracle to get back in the good graces of everyone in Emmerdale.”
