John’s a skilled miner and Lesley’s now a stay-at-home mum.

TV dominates the family entertainment and mealtimes are organised around the hit show Coronation Street.

While PM Harold Wilson champions technology on the telly, a washing machine arrives, but Lesley’s still doing six hours of housework a day.

At the weekend, the lads go off to support their team and the girls go clubbing, but poor mum feels a bit ‘stuck’.
