Blood and sand

As part of the celebrations of Ariadne's betrothal to Heptarian, a fighting tournament is to be held in which opponents battle to pick up a knife stuck in the arena sand, and the first to draw blood with the blade wins. A broken-hearted Jason enters, as does Hepatarian, who is an expert in this style of fighting with a tendency to kill his opponents rather than just spilling their blood...

Despite suffering an injury, the inexperienced Jason makes it though to a final showdown with his love rival. When the bout ends in a draw, Ariadne tells Heptarian that it is a sign from the gods that they should not marry.

However, Pasiphae is not about to let her plans for the succession of Atlantis be thwarted just yet...
