Daniel's imminent return from extended leave following the Cherry scandal gets tongues wagging but while Al is given all of the gory details, Karen gently tries to ask Jimmi how he's doing. When Daniel finally arrives he is met with quiet hostility by most of the staff – he throws himself into work until he finally has a moment to speak to Jimmi. Daniel asks Jimmi if they can continue to work together; he knows things will never be the same but can Jimmi be civil. Jimmi's non-committal and tells him to keep out of his way. But at the end of the day when Jimmi overhears Jas and Al talking rudely about Daniel, Jimmi steps in to admonish them for their unprofessionalism – it's none of their business. Al is annoyed but when Jimmi tries to explain – Daniel was ill after all – he is left thoughtful by Al who insists he's a fool if he thinks he can forgive and forget. Meanwhile, Mandy has been thinking about Heston's offer and has decided to accept the house-sitting job, although she's left frustrated when he tells her she may have missed the boat. She hassles him to speak to Mrs Fitzwilliam all day but when he finally gets through and the conversation brings up the care of pets, Mandy starts to have second thoughts until she hears the fee she will be given – she grabs the phone and accepts! Heston is left confused when he reminds Howard to call Emma to ask about Sam, and is met with a vehement refusal. Sam's condition is private. Also, when a couple's dream of running a pub is put in jeopardy, some surprising news and a risky plan threaten to change everything.
