Freddie confronts Joe about the murder and it's clear Joe is hiding something. Joe tells Freddie that he had a fight with Fraser that night and fired a shot over Fraser's head into a tree, but didn't kill him. The police return for Freddie, but he's already escaped. Joe has hidden Freddie in the garage and the brothers say a final farewell before Freddie runs away. However, as Freddie is about to drive off, Trevor slips into the back seat and points a gun at him. Nana is frantic after seeing Trevor with a gun and tells Grace to stop him.
Maxine worries about whether she's done the right thing and meets Dennis in the park. He urges her to stay at the refuge, but Patrick has followed him. He tells Maxine he's not going to give up on her and begs her to come home.
Dennis is devastated when he sees her back in the village. She steals a couple of minutes with Dennis and reassures him that next time, she's going to make sure Patrick doesn't find her.
Diane is delighted when Sinead tells her she's going to resit her A-levels. She asks her to cover a shift at The Hutch but when the sprinklers go off she and Tony kiss.
