This sci-fi thriller starring Dev Patel and Sharlto Copley is set in a near future where robots police the streets of South Africa.
The RoboCop knock-off plot kicks off when of the police robots, known as Scouts, is secretly reprogrammed by Patel's rogue engineer to think and feel for itself.
But then it falls into the hands of an underworld gang…
Copley, back with his District 9 director and co-writer Neill Blomkamp, delivers a striking motion-capture performance as the renegade robot, but Hugh Jackman goes cartoonishly over the top as the bad guy and Sigourney Weaver is wasted in a clichéd role as Patel's boss.
However, there is still much to enjoy here, with plenty of well-handled, energetic action.
