Great Celebrity Bake Off – C4

Four stars venture into the tent in aid of Stand Up to Cancer
Comedians Russell Brand and Jon Richardson, Paralympian Hannah Cockroft and The Crown’s John Lithgow are the first four stars to enter the iconic Bake Off tent.
Presented by Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, the series kicks off with a signature challenge.
Jon Richardson has his bake completed and the washing up done before the others have even turned the oven on, and American John Lithgow is a little confused by the technical challenge, which is a distinctly British affair.
The showstopper sees four amazing creations – but watch out for Russell’s, which goes above and beyond the brief.
Among those taking part in the following four shows are Our Girl’s Michelle Keegan, This Morning presenter Rylan Clark-Neal, Love Island host Caroline Flack and Still Open All Hours star Sally Lindsay.
TV Times caught up with celebrity baker Sally, 45, who explains why she might ‘knead’ a little help…
Why did you want to take part?
My dad passed away from cancer last year, I’ve had friends who’ve had it and recovered, and other friends who didn’t make it. This is an opportunity for me to do something that takes me out of my comfort zone for the right reasons.
How would you rate your baking skills?
I’d never baked before I got there! I’d only ever made rice crispie cakes, but that doesn’t count, does it? The last time I can remember putting a spoon in a mixing bowl, I was about seven years old, baking with my gran.
It was massively daunting walking into the tent because it’s so iconic. I was a proper fish out of water! I was sweating for two days. It’s the hardest gig that I’ve ever done.
