Has Max maxed out?
Max was already furious with Rachel for reinstating Steph and Jo after he had let them both go. In the final episode of 2009, he has a chance to get rid of her and he takes it… The governors visit to see how the merger is going between Waterloo Road and John Foster’s. There have certainly been some explosive moments in the past few weeks but the real fireworks go off right in front of the governors, when Rachel and Max blame each other for the problems. Believing she’s fighting a losing battle, Rachel waves the white flag and resigns… Meanwhile, the students celebrate the end of term with their Waterloo Road Has Talent contest. There’s no Susan Boyle waiting to step out of the wings but wannabe comedian Philip gets noticed, too, when he makes Max the butt of his jokes. Already a victim of Max’s violent temper, Philip is going to suffer again… Thank goodness, then, that Kim is suspicious and has a quiet chat with Philip, who eventually reveals that Max hit him. While Max is happily announcing to the rest of the staff that Rachel has left Kim arrives to expose Max as a nasty bully. And you can’t leave someone like him to run a school… There are more classroom wars to look forward to in 2010.
