The factory is buzzing about the bloke Beth's hoping to bag and Kirk offers to give her a lift. When they arrive outside a pub Kirk notices Beth's nervous. Later, inside, Beth's taken back when her date Dave looks nothing like his web picture. Dave suggests he and Beth go back to his. Beth scoffs and tells him she's not that easy. When Dave says they can't afford not to be at their age Beth leaves the pub with Dave in pursuit. He starts threatening her, but Kirk jumps to the rescue. Tommy begs Owen not to make Tina do the surrogacy. Meanwhile. Tina talks to Rita about the state of her and Tommy's relationship, without giving away the details. Later, she has another go at persuading Tommy, but he insists he wants nothing to do with it. He tells her he can't promise he'll be at home when she gets back. When Rita tackles Tommy, she's stunned at what he tells her. Sunita tells Karl that Dev offered her a job and Karl tells her to take it. Dev is cold and business-like to Sunita. When he hears Karl discussing plans to cook a special meal for Sunita he hatches a plan. Also, a discovery in his cab gives Lloyd an excuse to visit Mandy. *Second Episode, 8.30pm* Rita tackles Tina who confirms Tommy's bombshell. Reminding her what she's doing isn't legal she offers her money. Tina insists she knows what she's doing. Later Tina returns home and crumbles when she realises Tommy has gone. Owen sees Tommy and tells him he thinks he's a fool for leaving. Tina's rescuing him from his own mess and doing something wonderful for Gary and Izzy. Owen's words make Tommy change his mind. Beth picks Kirk up after he's been floored by Dave and helps him into the van. On the way back they run out of fuel. Kirk heads off to a service station with Beth, who's horrified he was hurt. During the walk along the hard shoulder they share tales of their lacklustre love lives. Kirk tells Beth he thinks she's lovely and the pair then share a goodnight kiss back at Weatherfield. Lloyd presents Mandy with the bracelet she left in his cab and invites himself in. Mandy tries to get him to go, but when he doesn't take the hint she tells him she has no interest in revisiting their friendship. Later Eileen tells him it's for the best, but Lloyd's not entirely convinced. Also, Dev ruins Karl's romantic gesture by keeping Sunita back late; Gloria reads about a Pub of the Year competition.
