Jenny struggles with a new patient
It's a very special day for midwife Jenny Lee. The year is 1958, and after a long day carrying out her duties, she finds that everyone at Nonnatus House has gathered around. It's Jenny's birthday and friends Chummy, Trixie and Cynthia are taking her to the cinema to celebrate. However, the happy occasion for the midwives is to be cut short. The following morning, after their happy evening out, Jenny is assigned a new pregnant patient who is troubling her. Patient Molly Brignall is in an abusive marriage, and worryingly for Jenny, Molly's baby is due any day. Fearing for Molly and her other children, Jenny finds herself torn and not knowing what to do. Meanwhile, Trixie and Sister Evangelina find themselves in highly unusual circumstances, aboard a Swedish cargo ship looking after the captain’s daughter, who is about to have her first baby.
