Karen fails to help ex-con Ben
Karen nearly runs over a young man, Ben, being chased by thugs. Fresh out of prison, Ben is struggling to cope with prejudice from everyone including his mother, and Karen can't help but get involved. But when Julia fills Karen in on what Ben is capable of, Karen turns her own back on him - with tragic consequences... Meanwhile, Julia has to deal with the fall-out of the news of Ruth's return. Heston has forgotten all about Ruth's return; he's more worried about Lily following their misunderstanding. Julia convinces Lily to hear Heston out and Lily books a table for them. Elsewhere, Julia tries to reassure an anxious Michelle that she will not have to cross paths with Ruth. Over dinner, Heston opens up to Lily about his fear of mental health problems and reveals that his sympathy isn't an act; he just struggles to deal with the issues. Heston's honesty prompts Lily to reveal some of her own troubled past in dealing with prejudice. Later, Julia cooks dinner for Jimmi and they talk about how hard it will be when Ruth returns as so many of the team don't want her there. At that moment, Ruth comes down for a glass of water and hears everything...
