Karen refuses to ask Rob for help
The boiler is still broken at the Hollins' house. Karen refuses to ask Rob to fix it and so Immie asks Jack - but Jack makes matters worse. Karen settles for a night under blankets but Immie isn't having it. She goes to stay at her friend's while Karen sits alone in the cold. Elaine's annoying sister Emma-Jane turns up asking to spend some time with Elaine. They go out for dinner and drunken Emma-Jane accuses Elaine of having an affair with her husband. Elaine strongly denies this and Emma-Jane reveals her husband is always asking why she can't be more like Elaine; heaven knows why! Emma-Jane can't understand why Elaine isn't jealous of her life and falls over inebriated. Also, Danny wants to run a marathon in memory of his brother Jay who died in a hit and run. An entertainment writer with a diverse taste in TV and film, he lists Seinfeld, The Sopranos, The Chase, The Thick of It and Detectorists among his favourite shows, but steers well clear of most sci-fi.
