Vincent is torn over Phoebe's proposal and John Paul doesn't help matters when he encourages their lodger to say "no". Instead, Vincent makes a grand gesture in the village and declares his love for Phoebe, before asking her to marry him. The loved-up couple shares their news with JP and Theresa but when John Paul refuses to give them consent to get hitched, Phoebe decides to visit her mum in Northern Ireland and get consent from her instead. They sneak out of the house, leaving a note behind.
Cindy panics when Lindsey wants to tell Joe the truth. She has to think fast when Dirk almost rumbles them but with Lindsey's help, avoids disaster. Later, Cindy is distracting Dirk but when her efforts don't seem to work, she kisses him!
At the hospital, Maxine is elated when Patrick promises to stand by her, but he wants the truth from now on. Later, Dodger visits Maxine. He's about to share his true feelings until she tells him their night together meant nothing and she loves Patrick. Patrick has witnessed their closeness through the window and his eyes blaze with fury as he realises who Maxine's mystery man is.
