Saving Poundstretcher – C4
Following Poundworld founder Chris Edwards after he was brought in to try to revive the fortunes of the Poundstretcher chain of discount stores
Whether you’re after pet food, shaving foam or a new pair of socks, Poundstretcher has probably got some of the best deals on the high street.
But the discount store, which has over 400 outlets across the UK, has hit hard times and now owner Aziz Tayub is hiring his former rival, Poundworld founder Chris Edwards, to help him save the flagging business.
The two tycoons don’t always see eye to eye and, as this three-part series progresses, there are sure to be some boardroom battles.
But it’s staff like Sue (main picture), on the shop floor in Walkden, who genuinely seem to care for their store, that we really empathise with.
