Strokes of Genius: Federer and Nadal - BBC2
Tennis stars Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal recall their greatest match - their 4:48 minute 2008 Wimbledon men's singles final match
There’s been no more memorable Wimbledon final than the 2008 five-set marathon between five-time champion Roger Federer and tenacious upstart Rafael Nadal, AKA the greatest tennis match ever played.
Rain stopped play and darkness loomed, but after four hours and 48 minutes Rafa lifted the trophy in the twilight.
A decade later, the players share their memories of that incredible day, along with their families, coaches, the umpire and the likes of Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe and Björn Borg, all of whom were just as enthralled as the rest of us.
Also featuring archive footage and charting sport’s greatest rivalry, it’s the perfect Wimbledon warm-up.
