The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys – Channel 5
We travel across Wales in this week’s The World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys on Channel 5, taking in medieval castles and familiar villages
After trips through Canada, New Zealand and Spain, this week’s The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys on Channel 5 is a bit closer to home on the Cambrian Line in North Wales.
Stretching from Pwllheli to Shrewsbury, it takes in medieval castles, stunning beaches, Wales’ highest mountain and the incredible Italianate village of Portmeirion (pictured top), made famous as the setting for the 1960s series The Prisoner.
The rail network was originally established to transport Welsh slate, and at Porthmadog there’s even a chance to take a trip back in time on a steam train.
With Bill Nighy’s dulcet tones narrating, this is the perfect way to unwind on a Friday evening.
