As the Rovers burns, onlookers are shocked to see Karl's face at the window with Stella. Jason grabs the ladders from the builder's yard, but Paul and his colleague Toni are adamant that everyone keep clear of the Rovers as they head inside to do their duty in the burning pub. The fire brigade arrives and find Sunita, but as they pull her out unconscious a massive explosion rocks the street.
Later at the hospital, Stella regains consciousness and Karl is hailed the brave man while Dev keeps a terrified eye over Sunita. As Stella begins to wonder what Sunita was doing in the pub in the first place, the finger-pointing begins between Karl and Jason. Horrified at the thought of being blamed, Jason makes several protests of innocence, but even his friends suspect he may be involved. The death of Toni rocks the street while Sunita's health declines.
Having heard about Gail's housing predicament Kylie asks her to move back to No 8, swearing she loves David and will never cheat on him again. Gail remains suspicious, but is fed up with being passed from pillar to post.
Also, Tina spots Kirsty watching the fire from the window of No 9.
