Ray is in Provence in this episode of the series exploring French regions, and he manages to find rhino tracks!
In this series exploring French regions, Ray is in Provence, where he manages to find rhino tracks! Yep, you wouldn't imagine rhinos live in the south east of France and you would, of course, be right as these prehistoric giant footprints date from 30 million years ago.
One creature that still lives there today is the elusive Bonelli's eagle, a rare bird that Ray is determined to find in its hilly lair. He also heads to a lavender field, where he discovers a praying mantis, a formidable predator that feasts on prey three times its size.
As ever, Ray makes a warm host and treats us here to an array of wildlife wonders.
