It's a big day for Jonny - it's his daughter Emma's first birthday and he's planning to celebrate it with a party. Although her mother Jac has had little to do with Emma after giving Jonny sole custody, he really hopes she'll be there. However, as usual, Jac's busy with work and has been tasked with heading up trials of the Herzig heart device in America.
When she's told by the American hospital boss it would be no problem if she wanted to take Emma with her, Jac briefly wonders if she should make a fresh start as a mum over there. Jonny's already told Jac she must decide if she wants to be in Emma's life - and there can be no half measures. Jac must now decide if she wants to fight Johnny again to be able take Emma to the US...
Meanwhile, when Sacha's daughter Rachel is brought in, she's reluctant to reveal her infected tattoo. But, when amphetamines turn up in her blood test results, a dodgy tattoo is the least of Sacha's worries...
Elsewhere, when Harry mentions their New Year liaison, Mary-Claire reminds him they agreed it was a one-off. However, when working in close proximity on a tricky case, acting on their mutual attraction proves hard to resist.
