Zara and Daniel clash over baby Joe's education

Zara's asking for time off for Joe's second birthday when Emma and Al overhear and mention how quickly Joe's growing up. When Al grumbles that patients are already trying to get children into pre-schools at that age, the ever-competitive Zara wonders if she and Daniel should be looking to get Joe into private school - now!

Zara tries to pressure Daniel into agreeing that Joe needs to be privately educated. But Daniel resists: Izzie is at state school, and she's doing fine. Is Zara trying to suggest he treat his children unequally? But Zara won't drop it, so Daniel's forced to be blunt: they can't afford it. He thinks that settles the argument, but Zara's like a dog with a bone - and this is one thing she's not letting go of...

Meanwhile, Rob's back at the police station after taking Tom down and is applauded by senior Inspector Owens, who praises him in front of the entire office. The self-loathing Rob takes the opportunity to make a speech about the police force being a place best for people who have nothing and how he would have ditched the wife and kids ages ago if he'd known. Later, Rob visits Sian, who is immensely thankful. When she tries to kiss Rob out of gratitude, his resistance is only momentary. Craving affection, he gives in to her...

Also, Valerie tries to help out an eccentric elderly woman who is convinced her son is being stopped from seeing her by his job.
