Bosch: Legacy season 2 episode 4 recap: Chandler is in trouble
Meanwhile, Maddie finally gets some news.
NOTE: this post contains spoilers for Bosch: Legacy season 2 episode 4, "Musso & Frank."
Maddie (Madison Lintz) continues her recovery process after being kidnapped, which includes moving out of Bosch's (Titus Welliver) house. While she knows it's an important step, she still seems off. Bosch, isn't thrilled about her leaving, but knows she needs to do what's best for her.
The good thing is that they each have their work to dig into.
Bosch's dead end, Maddie's path forward
Bosch continues his investigation into the Lexi Parks murder, talking with her colleagues and figuring out if she had any enemies, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. He gets a call from Chandler (Mimi Rogers) who tells him she can't find James Allen. She gives him info about an arrest Allen previously had, which will help Bosch get some info on his last location.
It leads him to Allen's sister (Joanna Strapp), who tells Bosch that Allen is dead, found in an alley in Hollywood. Two detectives told her it was an overdose. Bosch gets their info so he can follow up.
Maddie is having a bit more luck with her career. After her work on the bracelet case, she has been recommended by Vasquez (Denise Sanchez) to get off the desk and into a special unit that'll have her partnering with Vasquez once again. Maddie enthusiastically says yes.
Chandler's problems
Chandler is having a few issues personally and professionally. First, she visits her therapist and talks about how she feels about Foster (Patrick Brennan) being in such trouble after she had previously represented him when he was a young kid with drug problems, thinking he had turned his life around.

They also talk about the guy who came up to Chandler at meditation. She says she was annoyed and angry because she doesn't want to have to deal with flirtation when she just wants to relax. The therapist asks if she isn't interested in this guy or relationships in general? She says both, but doesn't really want to talk about it anymore.
Professionally, the FBI keeps on her tail. The agents (Vincent Laresca and Jolene Key) talk with Raul Arraya (Lakin Valdez), one of Chandler's former clients and an inmate in the prison where Willy Datz was killed last season. They play a recording of Chandler talking to Datz and saying she could call in a "favor" against Datz. The agents want to know if Arraya was asked to do anything, but he says Chandler was just bluffing and won't give them any more info.
On a more positive note, Mo (Stephen Chang) helps Chandler by getting access to Ramirez's (Alex Loynaz) phone so they can track if he has any contact with the FBI.
Dining for info
Bosch meets with Mank (Scott Klace) at a diner to ask how Maddie is doing at work. Mank tells him she's great, bringing up how she worked the bracelet case and her new assignment, neither of which Bosch knew about.
Something else Bosch may not have known is Maddie is staying with Perez (Anthony Gonzales), as their relationship continues to grow. Though they are sure to put boundaries in place for work and stress that she is only staying with him until she can find a place of her own. They do spend more time together later when they, Vasquez and Paulina (Danielle Larracuente) meet up for drinks to celebrate Maddie's new assignment.
Back on the case, Bosch meets with the detectives that found Allen's body. They disclose he didn't overdose, but was strangled. They also share Allen was a sex worker, which Bosch didn't know. The one thing the detectives didn't find on the scene was Allen's phone. Bosch wants to be kept in the loop on if/when they do.
Bosch has dinner with Chandler at Musso & Franks, skeptical that Foster is as innocent as Chandler believes considering he lied to them about multiple things already. But he'll have the chance to see for himself when he meets with him the next day. Chandler also asks about Ramirez's phone, but Bosch says nothing has happened yet.
On their tail
The two men (Max Martini and Guy Wilson) that blackmailed the guy in episode 3 are waiting outside of Musso & Frank, keeping an eye on Chandler and Bosch.
They ID Bosch as he leaves the restaurant, with the smaller guy following Bosch and the bigger one staying on Chandler, who is finishing up dinner. The smaller guy tracks Bosch to his house and checks his mailbox to find out who he is. He then doubles back to Musso & Frank to pick up his partner and follow Chandler.
They call 9-1-1 and claim Chandler is driving drunk (she isn't). Then with a police radio, they answer the call for someone to pick Chandler up, revealing they are actually cops, specifically Detective Don Ellis (Martini) and Detective Kevin Long (Wilson). When Chandler refuses a breathalyzer test, they arrest her and have another pair of cops who arrive on the scene take her to the station. They then break into her car and find her Foster files.
Chandler remains in custody overnight, in a holding cell for drunks, until Mank lets her out. Meanwhile, Bosch and Rose (David Moses) meet with Foster. Bosch tells him if he lies to him again, he walks. This gets Foster to admit he and Allen had been having a relationship for six months.
Afterward, Bosch gets Chandler out. On their way to get her car, Chandler fills him in on Ellis and Long, while Bosch does the same from his meeting with Foster, including Foster sharing that he and Allen were in a hotel in Santa Monica the night of the murder.
When they pick up Chandler's car, she is surprised it's open, knowing she locked it before Ellis and Long arrested her. She then believes the Foster file has been moved from where she had it.
Finally, the FBI gets video footage that Chandler went to the house of Simon Wakefield a little bit after his death in season 1, theorizing she may have taken his phone that they can't find. Another video shows a Russian visiting Wakefield's house as well earlier that day. They say the Russians are out of reach, but Chandler isn't.
