The investigation into the Il Giardino murders begins in The Bold and the Beautiful recap for July 17, 2024.

We begin today’s episode at the hospital, where Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) can’t believe Tom and Hollis died of the same drug. Li (Naomi Matsuda) confirms that they even died of the same dosing level. Steffy knows Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) has a background in medicine from when she was a nurse, so there’s no question she did it.

Sheila tells Deacon (Sean Kanan) that she knows he’s hurting. He admits he’s freaking out, but she hurries to tell him not to start thinking it was murder. That’s when Chief Baker (Jacob Daniel Martin) walks in.

At Forrester Creations, Hope (Annika Noelle) asks Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) if he’s heard from Steffy. He hasn’t. But Ridge knows what’s going on here because it’s clear as day. This is all Sheila. He calls Sheila a psychopath. Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) walks in and tells them that Hollis also died of an overdose.

Baker warns them not to leave the door open with all of the deaths around the restaurant. He says they need to investigate, and Sheila looks concerned.

Finn (Tanner Novlan) wonders if they should provoke Sheila. Steffy thinks they all three need to confront Sheila and make her slip up about her guilt. Steffy isn’t going to rest until Sheila is locked up for the rest of her life.

Ridge is trying to understand how two people died in the same place from the same drug overdose. Hope and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) wonder if Tom and Hollis were doing drugs together. Carter asks how Deacon is doing, and Hope says that he’s struggling. Ridge says they can’t deny that it was all Sheila. Hope is struggling to understand Sheila’s motive in killing Tom and Hollis, but Ridge says this is what she does.

Baker asks Deacon to go through what happened when Tom died. He says that Tom used to be a big singer back in the day. Sheila says that she tried to help him when he collapsed but he was already gone. Baker says a case has been opened now that Hollis has died. They have to make sure that there was "no foul play." Steffy, Li and Finn walk in and Finn reveals the results of Hollis’ autopsy. Deacon is incredulous to hear that Hollis also overdosed. Baker knew this already, but when Li points out that it was the same drug and the same toxicity level, Steffy says it was Sheila who did it.

Ridge ends a call as everyone else paces in his office. Hope thinks back to seeing her father and Hollis together, and all the memories they shared. Ridge says he understands why they’re struggling to believe that Hollis was using drugs. Carter points out that this makes it more likely that Sheila was involved. Brooke wants to know why Sheila isn’t locked up.

Sheila warns Steffy that she’s making dangerous accusations. Steffy demands that they lock her up for all she’s done to them. Li says Sheila hurts people and tries to cover it up. Baker says he has to hear them out. Sheila insists that she’s turning her life around. Deacon defends his wife, saying that this is their home and Hollis and Tom were their family. Sheila says she cared deeply for them and she’s not responsible. Sheila remembers Tom’s backpack when Hollis came to her and said he found things in Tom’s backpack and then he died afterward. The clues are in the backpack.

Steffy can’t believe the lies Sheila tells. Sheila insists that there was a backpack. Baker wants to hear more about it. She thinks about the last conversation she had with Hollis, and she says as much. She feels terrible about how short she had been with him about it. She told Hollis to get rid of the backpack because she was afraid there were drugs in it. Baker says she should have called the police. Sheila says the backpack has to be downstairs and that’s where the answers are.

Ridge reports that there hasn’t been a response from Steffy yet. She’s not answering.

Everyone heads down to the restaurant and starts looking for the backpack. Sheila and Deacon look behind the bar but it’s not there. Steffy isn’t surprised. Deacon is upset that they’re making accusations against Sheila. Baker asks if Sheila was with him all night, but Deacon admits that she came home late. Steffy and Li warn that people are at risk if Baker doesn’t stop her. Sheila pleads with Finn to say something. Finn says he has a family to protect, and even though he believes in second chances he has to protect his family and it would be best if they arrest Sheila. "Chief Baker, take her away," Finn says. Sheila turns back and gives Finn a pleading look before being taken away. Steffy rushes into Finn’s arms.
