Actor Jules Knight has spoken exclusively about his departure from Holby City on Tuesday night.
It's been a tough few weeks for Jules's character, Dr Harry Tressler, in the BBC1 medical drama, ever since Harry's horrific fall last month.
As Harry tried to come to terms with some serious facial injuries, he urged his true love, nurse Mary-Claire Carter (Niamh McGrady), to leave for a job in America without him.
But it soon became clear Harry couldn't live without Mary-Claire and Tuesday night's episode ended with Harry asking her to marry him – and the pair driving off together to start a new life in Chicago.
Speaking to whatsontv.co.uk about his time on Holby, Jules said: "I've learnt a huge amount and I've loved every minute of it. It's been practically a first job for me in the acting world, so I feel privileged, honoured and pleased to have been given the job in the first place but all good things must come to an end.
“I'd always planned that two years is enough and to say my fond farewells and move on to other things.”
Formerly with operatic four-piece, Blake, Jules is looking forward to his next project, as he releases his debut solo album, Change of Heart, on April 27.
"I've co-written a couple of songs and we recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, drummers and guitarists from Pink Floyd and people who've played for Kate Bush. There's a real mixture of stuff and I think people will really like it."
Jules also worked with none other than Take That star Gary Barlow on one of the tracks, which was originally meant to be sung by a famous female opera singer.
