Hollyoaks stars are planning to sleep rough to raise money for the homeless. Cast and crew from the Channel 4 soap will brave the cold in a sponsored Sleep Out in the Hollyoaks village, based in Childwall, Liverpool, in aid of homelessness charity Centrepoint on Thursday, March 1. The fundraiser ties in with the soap's current storyline which has seen troubled teen George Smith, played by Steven Robert, and his friend Phoebe, played by Mandip Gill (pictured), sleeping rough on the streets. The plot takes a turn for the worse next month when Phoebe betrays the 16-year-old runaway by leading him straight back into the hands of the villains who previously held them captive. When evil Deena (Sian Breckin) and Graham (Steven Marsh) return next month, George - who has been struggling with life on the street - will suffer even more trauma. To help raise money for the charity, Centrepoint are also offering one fan and four friends the chance to win a Hollyoaks set tour if they donate via text to the charity. Thanks to the storyline that has unfolded over the last few months, a large audience of young people is more aware of homelessness - an issue over 80,000 of their peers face every year across the UK. "Sleeping out won't be easy for the cast, but it will give them a glimpse of what so many young people go through every night.
