Hollyoaks' Stuart: 'Cancer storyline was best'
Hollyoaks' Stuart Manning has revealed his favourite storyline was when his character had testicular cancer, as the topic meant a lot to him. The soap star is leaving the Channel 4 soap after playing teacher Russ Owen for five years and has been involved in some gripping plots. But asked about his favourite storyline, Stuart said: "It'd probably be my first as it was something to really get my teeth into - it was the one about testicular cancer, and it was a really interesting storyline for me to play because one of my really good friends had testicular cancer and my father died from cancer." He continued: "It's one of those storylines that is really poignant in my life and it was such a great part to play because it was so intense to be honest." Russ leaves the soap in what looks set to be yet another gripping plot, in which he tries to flee the village after taking his son Max. Hollyoaks insiders are remaining tight-lipped over the outcome of Stuart's final scenes. Click here to watch whatsontv.co.uk's new weekly soaps video preview, the Soap Scoop
