The mother of I'm A Celebrity camper Rebecca Adlington has revealed how upsetting it was to see her daughter break down on screen over her looks.
Viewers saw the former Olympic champion break down on screen as she revealed she has suffered years of criticism and insecurity about herself.
And Kaye, 52, told the Mirror: “My first reaction was to want to go over there and give her a big hug and tell her she is absolutely gorgeous inside and out.
“But afterwards I thought, hats off to her’, it was so typical of Becky to be up front about how she feels.”
Rebecca's angst revealed itself after she admitted feeling insecure about her looks next to beauty queen Amy Willerton.
“It’s making me very, very insecure that I have to look a certain way," she told the others.
"For me, I was an athlete. I wasn’t trying to be a model, but pretty much every single week on Twitter I get somebody commenting on the way I look.”
However Kaye added that Rebecca's comments were not specifically aimed at Amy.
“Becky would be the first one to hold her hand up and say ‘look, I’m not having a problem with you because you are absolutely gorgeous, this is my insecurity’," she explained.
