Two Down | British comedy thriller finds heroine Tori Hart playing host to a hitman
A wounded contract killer holds two strangers hostage in Fizz and Ginger Films' low-budget British comedy thriller Two Down.
The Hitman and Her.
A wounded contract killer holes up in a stranger's flat and tries to work out why his latest assignment went wrong in the talky, low-budget British comedy thriller Two Down, the first feature from independent film company Fizz and Ginger Films. The set-up is achingly contrived. But Alex Hassell and Tori Hart make a good impression as the studiously polite gunman and his unflappable host, although co-star Graham Butler is more irritating than amusing as a drippy takeaway delivery guy, also held hostage and surprisingly chuffed by the situation. Incidentally, Ian McKellen’s Limehouse pub The Grapes doubles as the behind-the-scenes villain’s hangout, while Stephen Fry and Derek Jacobi number among the film’s executive producers.
Certificate 15. Runtime 87 mins. Director Matthew Butler Hart
Two Down is showing on Sky Cinema Premiere. Available on Digital from Fizz and Ginger Films.

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
