Neighbours' Meyne Wyatt says Nate's dark secret hampers his romance with Chris
Karl and Susan get an unexpected houseguest when Nate Kinski, the nephew of Susan's late husband Alex, turns up in Erinsborough. We chat to Neighbours newcomer, Meyne Wyatt, about his character, and his romance with neighbour, Chris... and which Aussie stars he's been brushing shoulders with on the red carpet!
What's it like becoming part of the Kennedy family? Karl and Susan are Neighbours legends!
"It’s a surreal feeling. Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Susan (Jackie Woodburne) have been the faces of the show for the last 20 years. So you’re meeting some of the people who put Neighbours on the map."
Nate appears to have a violent temper! Should Ramsay Street beware of him?
"This is a defence mechanism from his background. It’s not intentional and he tries to keep a lid on it. But some of the experiences he has been through in life affect the way he behaves. As his secret is revealed you get a better understanding of where he is coming from."
Nate has a dark secret… Tell us more!
"When Nate's secret is revealed you get a better understanding of where he is coming from. Karl and Susan wonder what's going on with Nate because of his unusual behaviour. They want to help him as much as they can, but they are in for a shock when they find out what he's been through."

Chris takes a shine to Nate. But does Nate feel the same?
"I think from the get-go, there is an instant attraction, but Nate holds his cards quite close to his chest. He’s not scared or ashamed of his sexuality, he’s quite open about it. But he finds it hard to express his personal feelings to Chris as they are getting to know each other."
So are we going to see Nate happily settle into life in Ramsay Street?
"There’s going to be times when you’re questioning where he’s at. He’s a bit unpredictable. But you do start to see a lighter side to Nate, so it’s not all doom and gloom!"
You've made a film, Strangerland, with Nicole Kidman, due for release next year. Did you get star struck?
"I don't usually get star-struck, but I was working with Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Joseph Fiennes, three heavyweight actors. I got to work with each of them individually and they were all lovely and professional. It was a really good experience."
And you've already been walking down the red carpet. Is it exciting?
"Yeah, I got nominated for my role in the TV drama, Redfern Now. So I had my first experience of the red carpet at the ACCTA (Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts) where you were rubbing shoulders with Geoffrey Rush, Cate Blanchett, all these great Australian actors. It was quite a bizarre experience and I did do a few double-takes! But I don't mind it, it's good fun."
Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!
Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.
Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)
And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
