French and Saunders to parody Poldark for Christmas Day special
French and Saunders recently revealed that they will soon be reuniting on our TV screens, for an exciting festive special airing on Christmas Day.
Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders will team up yet again for 300 Years of French and Saunders. The one-hour show will feature some of the pair's classic sketches, and some brand new skits. And it seems as though we're in for a huge treat as new details have been revealed about the programme!
Excitingly, Poldark will be returning to our screens, as the hilarious duo parody the popular period drama on BBC1.
Actress Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays Demelza in the show, will be putting in an appearance, as will Jack Farthing as the evil George Warleggan, in the much-anticipated comedy sketch.
Newly released pictures show Dawn, 60, and Jennifer, 59, in classic period dress. And while we're not yet sure how the pair will feature in the dramatic Cornish show, we're sure it'll likely be a barrel of laughs.
French and Saunders' one-off special will also feature a skit mimicking popular Channel 4 show Gogglebox. In the new images, it appears that the comedians are playing the parts of the hilarious older Bristol ladies, Mary and Marina.
Dawn and Jennifer will also be joined by the long-time collaborator and friend, Joanna Lumley for the skits. However, it's not yet been confirmed how she'll be involved.

They'll also be paying comedy tribute to one of this year's breakout shows, The Handmaid's Tale. The 10-part show was inspired by Margaret Atwood's popular novel.
“There’s some Handmaid’s Tale in there. We had fun with some of the costumes.” Dawn told The Times.
The duo will also be paying homage to emotional epic Titanic. A new picture has revealed Dawn as Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack Dawson, and Jennifer as Kate Winslet's Rose.
The one-off special will mark the first time Dawn and Jennifer have appeared on TV together in a show in 10 years. And despite the tounge-in-cheek name, it's airing to celebrate three decades of the comedians working together.
300 Years of French and Saunders will air Christmas Day on BBC One, 10.35pm.
