A life is thrown into jeopardy as THIS Home and Away legend hits rock bottom
There's potential danger on the horizon for Irene Roberts as she reaches breaking point with devastating consequences...
Today's Home and Away sees Irene Roberts struggling so badly with the fact she landed Tommy in a coma after attacking him that she considers turning to drink to numb the pain.
Irene has been hiding herself away from the world ever since the attack on Tommy was revealed.
But while Summer Bay residents don't know she was the one who landed him in a coma, Irene's friends and family have all cottoned to the fact that all is not well with her.
Over the last few weeks those who know the truth have been fighting to get through to Irene, desperate to make her realise that she isn't the one in wrong following her shocking attack on Tommy.
Home and Away fans will know that Irene attacked Tommy in a bid to stop him sexually assaulting Bella Nixon, something that Irene has also been through herself in the past.
But while Bella, Leah and Willow have all tried to get though to Irene, she has remained locked inside her house desperate to stay hidden from everyone, today the former alcoholic considers turning to drink to numb the pain.

Irene has had a rocky relationship with alcohol in the past, and won't even allow drink in her house because she is so determined to stay on the wagon.
But it seems recent events are starting to take their toll and today Irene almost downs vodka to escape her demons.
Thankfully Leah comes to visit her friend just at the right time and stops her doing anything she will regret... but with Irene already on a downward spiral, will Leah be able to help her before it's too late?

Claire is Assistant Managing Editor at What To Watch and has been a journalist for over 15 years, writing about everything from soaps and TV to beauty, entertainment, and even the Royal Family. After starting her career at a soap magazine, she ended up staying for 13 years, and over that time she’s pulled pints in the Rovers Return, sung karaoke in the Emmerdale village hall, taken a stroll around Albert Square, and visited Summer Bay Surf Club in sunny Australia.
After learning some tricks of the trade at websites Digital Spy, Entertainment Daily, and Woman & Home, Claire landed a role at What’s On TV and whattowatch.com writing about all things TV and film, with a particular love for Aussie soaps, Strictly Come Dancing and Bake Off.
She’s interviewed everyone from June Brown — AKA Dot Cotton — to Michelle Keegan, swapped cooking tips with baking legend Mary Berry backstage at the NTAs, and danced the night away with soap stars at countless awards bashes. There’s not a lot she doesn’t know about soaps and TV and can be very handy when a soapy question comes up in a pub quiz!
As well as all things soap-related, Claire also loves running, spa breaks, days out with her kids, and getting lost in a good book.
