Abbey Clancy attempts to 'lose accent' for TV roles

Strictly Come Dancing champion Abbey Clancy reportedly has another aim in mind - to lose her strong Liverpool accent in a bid to further her TV career.

According to the Sunday Mirror the model has her sights set on becoming a presenter - but is concerned her Scouse twang might put people off.

As a result she is said to have been turning to self-help guides to improve her diction and help her realise her dream.

"Winning Strictly has given her a massive boost," a source told the paper.

"She has been inundated with offers, but thinks toning down her accent will open more doors.

"Her relatives have been ribbing her about it after noticing the difference, and she has been looking up the techniques to speak slowly and a bit more clearly."

The insider added: "They think she sounds more Southern. It has all been very tongue-in-cheek."

Viewers watching the National TV Awards also took to Twitter to comment on the difference in Abbey's accent when she presented a prize at the ceremony two weeks ago.

The 28-year-old swept to victory with dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec in the 2013 series of Strictly, and is currently on the show's live tour.
