Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles have been axed from ITV1's breakfast show Daybreak, according to reports. The pair - who have been fronting the show since it began in September 2010 after being lured away from the BBC on multi-million pound contracts - are apparently set to leave the show "within weeks" after failing to become a hit with viewers. Ratings for the show, which replaced the long-running GMTV, have been disappointing, with the papers reporting that audiences have been around the 700,000 mark - and have sometimes dropped as low as 350,000, considerably less than BBC1's Breakfast show. "It's game over," a source told The Sun. "ITV have tried everything to make the show work, but viewers are fed up with Adrian and Christine. The point of scrapping a well-liked brand like GMTV was to come up with something a lot better - but the opposite's been true." ITV has refused to deny the claims that the pair have been dropped from the show, although nothing has officially been confirmed. It is expected that an announcement will be made after the programme's new editor David Kermode comes on board in December. As yet there is no word on who might replace Adrian and Christine, although rumoured names have included former GMTV host Eamonn Holmes, BBC Breakfast's sport presenter Chris Hollins and Five news anchor Natasha Kaplinsky. There is also speculation that one of the show's second-tier presenters such as Kate Garraway or Dan Lobb may be given a bigger role. The news came just hours after Christine was named as the new co-host of Dancing On Ice, replacing Holly Willoughby who has said she is not renewing her contract due to "work commitments". The pair came to Daybreak after jointly presenting The One Show on BBC1. Adrian - who also fronts ITV1's football coverage - joined the channel on a £6m contract while Christine has a £4m deal.
