Amanda Redman leads the cast in ITV’s new medical drama, The Good Karma Hospital, set in tropical South India and due to air this winter
Set to warm viewers on ITV this winter is their new medical drama The Good Karma Hospital, starring Amanda Redman.
Set in South India, the six-part series will tell the story of life at a cottage hospital, run by the eccentric Doctor Lydia Fonseca (Amanda Redman, New Tricks).
Joining Dr Lydia on duty with be junior doctor Ruby Walker, played by Amrita Acharia (Game of Thrones), who recently tweeted a pic of herself with her co-stars.
Amrita's character, Ruby, arrives in India looking for a different life following heartbreak.
“Ruby is thinking sunshine, palm trees and glorious beaches – maybe even some sacred cows, tuk-tuks and Delhi belly,” says a show insider.
“What she gets is the harsh realities of life, work and love at the over-worked and under-financed Good Karma Hospital.

Also featuring are Neil Morrissey (Grantchester), Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey) and James Floyd (Dream Team).
The Good Karma Hospital will start on ITV in 2017.
