Apprentice duo go walkies
Company director Ifti Chaudhri and failed entrepreneur Rory Laing were both fired by Sir Alan Sugar on BBC1's hit reality series The Apprentice on Wednesday night. Both Ifti and project manager Rory, along with marketing and design consultant Tre Azam, found themselves in the boardroom after their team, Eclipse, failed the latest task to create an accessory for dog lovers. While Eclipse's 'Pooch Pouch' secured orders from two specialist pet retailers, opposing side Stealth's 'Doggy Closet' eclipsed Rory's team with a sizable order from a multiple retailer. In a shock turn of events for the boardroom, Ifti admitted that he had not given 100 per cent to the task because he was missing his family, leaving multi-millionaire businessman Sir Alan with little choice but to give him the chop. Upon realising his fate, Ifti said: "I know for a fact I could have won but, with me, my son and my wife come first." Despite Ifti's departure, Rory and Tre - who had fought like cat and dog throughout the task - were still in the firing line. Sir Alan had some harsh words for motormouth Tre but he saved his toughest criticism for twice-bankrupt Rory. "You're a disaster!" he said, adding: "You've been made bankrupt twice now here's your hat-trick - you're fired!" Rory remained resolute in defeat saying: "Clearly I've been knocked down again - but I will be back." Thirteen candidates are still in with a chance of winning the £100,000-a -year job as Sir Alan's apprentice.
