Feuding families the Colbys and Carringtons receive a modern-day makeover as the 1980s soap gets a reboot. Melrose Place actor Grant Show takes the role of Blake Carrington, but this time his new wife Cristal (Nathalie Kelley) comes from Venezuela, and the action is now set in Atlanta, not Denver. Despite the changes, the new-look Dynasty still has the winning combination of bling, betrayal and backstabbing, and there’s even a wedding-day ‘cat fight’ to revive memories of Joan Collins and Linda Evans among the lily pads. Let’s hope there’s a new Moldavian massacre, too. Rating: ***

An Hour to Catch a Killer, 9.00pm, ITV

Sir Trevor McDonald reveals how a murder investigation unfolds

The so-called ‘golden hour’ after a crime is reported is absolutely vital in terms of the success or failure of a police investigation. This one-off, presented by Sir Trevor McDonald, reveals how, when 24-year-old Alice Ruggles was murdered in October 2016, decisions made by the homicide team swiftly brought her killer to justice. They worked against the clock to provide CCTV footage, mobile phone records and forensic evidence to build a strong case. Sir Trevor is seen visiting Alice’s grave with her parents Clive and Sue and, in a moving interview, asks them about their daughter’s life, and how they have coped since Alice died. Rating: ***

Red Dwarf, 9.00pm, Dave

Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten take to the skies again for their twelfth outing. In this series, which premiered on UKTV Play last week, Rimmer (Chris Barrie) decides to leave Red Dwarf in search of a parallel universe in which he isn’t a loser, and Cat (Danny John-Jules) has a major identity crisis. In this opener, the crew comes across a scientific research centre where vile historical figures have been recreated and ‘cured’ of their evil ways. Or have they? Rating: ***
