The BGT finalist might not have taken the winning title but now Daliso Chaponda is ready to take on radio with his own comedy show.

BGT finalist Daliso Chaponda has bagged his own comedy show on BBC Radio 4. He reached third place on the ITV talent show this year,  losing out to winner Tokio Myers and runner up eight-year old magician Issy Simpson. Now Chaponda hopes to have radio listeners chuckling as he navigates the “rocky historical waters of Britain’s relationship with Africa” with a brand new show.

The stand-up from Manchester, the son of a Malawian politician, said: “I am extremely excited to have a show on Radio 4 because it’s been what I’ve listened to on trains and buses to gigs for years. I am delighted I’ll now be able to tune into myself!”

Daliso had the whole room in stitches.

Sioned Wiliam, Radio 4′s commissioning editor for comedy, said: “Daliso’s comedy is shrewd and thought-provoking as well as being very, very funny. I am thrilled to be able to commission a series from him for Radio 4."

The rising star's  new show will be called, Daliso Chaponda: Citizen Of Nowhere and this will be his first comedy series.

However, he's not a total stranger to radio having already co-created and starred in Radio 4 drama When The Laughter Stops in 2014 and he also appeared on the station's The Now Show earlier this year.

Funnyman Daliso had the BGT audience in stitches with his comedy routine which featured chavs, the financial crisis and fish and chips and judge Amanda Holden put him straight through to the finals by pressing the prestigious golden buzzer.

Meanwhile BGT winner Myers wowed the live audience, judges and viewers in the final with his rendition of Rag 'N' Bone Man's hit-single Human.

BGT judge Amanda Holden said of Myers' performance: "I'd adore to see something like this on the Royal Variety. You've come from nothing and you're absolutely everything." Simon Cowell was quick to interject, he said: "I understand what you're saying Amanda , but Tokio you haven't come from nothing, you've had some disappointments. This was breathtakingly good as an artist, as a person I could not be happier for you right now."
