Star Wars The Last Jedi - Out 14th December

Cinemas are going to be full of the spark, swoosh and fuzzy hum of Jedi lightsabers. Yes, the Star Wars saga is back – and so are Daisy Ridley’s warrior heroine Ree, John Boyega’s renegade stormtrooper Finn, and Adam Driver’s evil Kylo Ren. There’s far more of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker this time – will we find out his true connection to Rey? And you have one last chance to see Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. Has the buzz sent you into hyperdrive yet? ****

They look a rum team to us. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and former Doctor Who assistant Karen Gillan are the brawny and brainy avatars of four high-school kids magically stranded inside a jungle video game in this sequel to the terrific 1995 fantasy comedy starring Robin Williams. Amid the rampaging animals and galloping fun, Johnson is a scream as the teenage nerd trapped inside the body of a strapping adventure hero. ***

A cappella underdogs the Barden Bellas are back for a threequel. Post-college life hasn’t turned out as they’d hoped, but Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and co rediscover their pep after reuniting for an overseas tour entertaining US troops in Europe. They do have to riff-off against a new set of rivals, however, including Orange Is the New Black’s Ruby Rose.
