Bruce Forsyth makes it to Strictly semi-final
Bruce Forsyth managed to make it to the Strictly Come Dancing semi-final on Saturday night despite speculation that he would be too ill to present the show. There had been fears that the 84-year-old would have to sit out the semi after battling against flu this week, and being sent home from the walk-through rehearsal on Friday. However he was present and correct on Saturday night alongside Tess Daly as the five remaining contestants made their bid for the final. And he even made reference to his illness after fluffing his lines while introducing Denise Van Outen. "In my defence I've had flu," he said, suggesting that all the other judges had been similarly stricken, "except for Craig Revel Horwood who never gets anything." His illness had sparked concern on Friday that he would not be able to present Saturday's show. "Bruce came in but he did not look too clever and it was obvious he was unwell," a source had told The Sun. "It's touch and go if he’ll be back for the live show." The veteran star has only ever missed one edition of the show due to illness, in 2009 - with Ronnie Corbett stepping in to take his place at the last minute.
