Viewers were not happy with the last minute schedule change
Casualty viewers were left disappointed on Saturday night after the medical drama was cancelled at the last minute due to Wimbledon.
Despite plugging this week’s episode only one hour before it was due to air, viewers were furious when they tuned in to see tennis on the TV instead.
The cancellation was caused by Andy Murray and Serena Williams, whose mixed doubles match ran overtime. Good news for them though as they beat Andreas Mies and Alexa Guarachi 6-4, 6-1.
Fans rushed to social media to vent their anger and frustration over the schedule change.
One said: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to tennis for ruining my evening #Casualty.”
Another added: “Let’s put Wimbledon on two channels were only one game is being played and cancel #Casualty. Brilliant idea.”
While a third fumed: “PJs on, whisky poured, and what do i find? BL**DY WIMBLEDON IS ON INSTEAD OF CASUALTY. BL**DY DISGRACE. HATE BL**DY WIMBLEDON."
And a fourth raged: “Come on, BBC, first you mess with Holby and now Casualty. We’re not all sports fans, if tennis is so flaming important, put Casualty on BBC 2 but tell us what’s going on!”
The BBC is yet to confirm whether Casualty will be rescheduled or will pick up next Saturday at the usual time.
Unfortunately for fans, they missed out on seeing paramedic Iain Dean have his recovery from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) tested when an urgent news appeal reveals seven-year-old Frankie Harper has gone missing without a trace.
Iain (Michael Stevenson) connected with Frankie in Casualty’s Paramedic Special when he answered a 999 call from the young girl, who was trapped in a house fire with her younger sister, Storm and drunk, unconscious Dad, Lee.
After she was rescued, Iain visited Frankie at the ED and came to realise how his own childhood with alcoholic mum Kim had affected him.
