Casualty fans struggled to hold in their tears after the long-running medical drama aired some of its most heart-breaking scenes on Saturday night.
Viewers of the BB1 drama were left emotional wrecks when hospital porter Glen Miller finally succumbed to the brain cancer he’d been bravely battling for some time, leaving his new wife Robyn devastated.
After taking his last breath with Robyn and daughter Charlotte by his side, fans watching at home flooded Twitter to express their sadness over the tear-jerker of an episode.
‘Absolutley balling my eyes out watching @BBCCasualty. So brave. What fabulous acting, ‘ one viewer tweeted.
‘Absolutely amazing episode almost had me ugly crying, @meamandamealing well done for directing such a good ep. RIP Glen,’ aother said.
‘This was one of the best episodes of casualty I've ever seen. It was so beautifully done. I have been so moved by it. Kudos to everyone who made it. Gonna miss ya Glen #Casualty,’ another added.
‘Omg. How sad was casualty, The actor who played glen was brilliant and I was blubbing like a baby,’ a fourth said.
While a fifth added: ‘One of the most emotional episodes of #Casualty in a LONG time. So sad to see Glen go, he's been one of the best characters the last few months.’
Speaking to What’s On TV, Amanda Henderson, who plays Robyn, admitted filming her final scenes with Owain Arthur, who plays Glen, left her exhausted.
She said: ‘I think I was physically dehydrated from crying during filming! It’s one of my favourite Casualty episodes – although one of the toughest, with every emotion possible.
‘I fully enjoyed working with Amanda Mealing, who directed, Owain Arthur, who plays Glen, and the whole crew.’
She added: ‘(Robyn) is going to need time off work, obviously. Time off is the only way to cope with it. I’d like to say this gave me time off too, but it didn’t!’
Casualty continues next Saturday on BBC1.
