Charlotte Hawkins to dance jive in bid to win over Strictly Come Dancing judges

Charlotte Hawkins jive Strictly

Good Morning presenter Charlotte Hawkins hopes that her luck will finally change on Saturday as the dances for this weekend are revealed

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins hopes to turn her Strictly Come Dancing fortunes around this weekend by performing a jive with partner Brendan Cole to Bruno Mars’ pop hit Marry You.

The 41-year-old star will no doubt be desperate to improve on her latest score of just 17 points, with her efforts so far promoting fierce criticism from the judges – Brendan strongly backed Charlotte again on twitter.

Meanwhile, Debbie McGee, who said she felt like Strictly was a "fairytale", could be in line to give her dance partner Giovanni Pernice another kiss during this weekend’s show as they dance to classic Cher hit The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss).

Debbie, 58, caused waves during her first dance of the series, a steamy Paso Doble that ended with a kiss on the lips between herself and the 27-year-old professional dancer.

Also tackling the Cha Cha Cha this weekend on the BBC1 show is Holby City actor Joe McFadden, who will do his thing on the dance floor to You Keep Me Hangin’ On by Human Nature with Katya Jones.

Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez will also give the jive their attention this weekend to Tina Turner’s anthemic version of Proud Mary.

The singer is currently in second place on the leaderboard behind her fellow former X Factor star Aston Merrygold, so she will no doubt be pulling out all the stops on the dance floor to go one better.

Meanwhile, ex-JLS member Aston and his partner Janette Manrara are set to dance a quickstep to ELO’s Mr Blue Sky during this Saturday night’s live show.

He wowed the judges last weekend, scoring 35 points out of 40 for a hip-hop-infused Cha Cha Cha to Can’t Stop The Feeling from family film Trolls.

Comic Susan Calman and Strictly mainstay Kevin Clifton will also be doing a quickstep, to Bring Me Sunshine by The Jive Aces.

Attempting the salsa this week are Saturdays star Mollie King and dancer AJ Pritchard, to Súbeme La Radio by Enrique Iglesias, while EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova will be slowing things down with a Viennese Waltz to Jessie Ware’s Say You Love Me.

Hoping to avoid landing in the bottom two for the second week in a row, Sunday Brunch presenter Simon Rimmer is set to perform a samba to Barry Manilow’s beloved classic Copacabana with Karen Clifton.

There are to be two Paso Dobles in the fourth live episode of the current series – soap actress Gemma Atkinson and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec to Coldplay’s Viva La Vida, and comic Brian Conley and Amy Dowden to I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness.

Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford and Anton du Beke will be giving the tango their best shot, to Bond’s Allegretto, and Paralympian Jonnie Peacock and his partner Oti Mabuse are doing an American Smooth to Michael Bubles’s Cry Me A River.

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6.45pm on Saturday on BBC1.
