Claire Sweeney: 'I like Mandy's tiny outfits!'
Actress and Loose Women panellist Claire Sweeney talks about her role as maneater Mandy in BBC1's comedy drama Candy Cabs... Tell us about Mandy, the character you play in Candy Cabs? "Mandy is one of the taxi drivers. She's a real maneater. She's ultra-glam and doesn't really want to settle down, she just wants to have fun." In the second episode, the Candy Cabs ladies are providing transport for a footballer's high-profile wedding, complete with fancy dress hen night. Do you like your outfits? "As Mandy, I certainly have to wear some tiny outfits in Candy Cabs. I quite enjoyed wearing her clothes, which is a bit of a worry." Also in this episode, Jackie and Elaine face further hostility from the rival taxi company, run by men... "Yes, Jackie and Elaine certainly come up against some obstacles while trying to make a go of Candy Cabs. They're under pressure from Kenny Ho and his drivers who say their taxi company run by women, for women, is sexist. But the plot thickens when Big Pam ends up falling for one of the guys who works for them." Do you think any of your colleagues on Loose Women would make good cabbies? "Well, they'd certainly be able to talk. A lot!" Candy Cabs is a three-part series. Are you hoping it returns for a longer run? "The script is brilliant and I had so much fun filming, so I really hope we get to make a full series. Candy Cabs is like a female Auf Wiedersehen, Pet!" *Candy Cabs continues on Tuesday at 9pm on BBC1
