Colin Salmon exits Strictly Come Dancing
Actor Colin Salmon has become the fourth person to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2012, after finding himself in the dance-off for the second week running. The 49-year-old saw off competition from Sid Owen after finding himself in last weekend's bottom two, but his luck ran out this Sunday when faced with Richard Arnold in the dance-off. And after both had reprised their foxtrot routines from Saturday's show, the judges were unanimous in saving Richard - the second time they have done so this series - after acknowledging his performance was the most improved. "One couple in the dance off was better and one was worse and it proves that that can happen," Craig Revel Horwood said, "but based on this performance I'm going to save Richard and Erin." And Bruno Tonioli added, "Talk about an incredible turn of events. One couple risen from the ashes, the other couple messed it up." Afterwards Colin was quick to sing the praises of the show, saying, "This is one of the greatest shows I've ever been involved in." "The quality of the competitors this year is seminal. Judges - I respect everything that's been said, what you do is knowledge. "Anybody who is out there who may have doubts, you have to understand that this is a discipline beyond anything we understand," he added. "So I accept with grace this decision. He added that he would miss dance partner Kristina Rihanoff, describing her as "a pre-eminent dancer in her field," and adding: "She's taught me many, many things." Saturday's show had seen Colin score 27 out of 40 for his performance, but he received a mixed response from the judges, with Darcey comparing the routine's high kicks to "John Cleese's silly walks" and Len Goodman saying, "You looked like you were dancing on a shagpile carpet." Ten couples now remain in the competition, with Louis Smith, Denise Van Outen, Dani Harmer and Nicky Byrne among those who made it straight through to next weekend's show. Others who have already left the competition include TV veteran Johnny Ball, model Jerry Hall and EastEnders star Sid Owen.
