Stars of Casualty and Holby City to join forces for Comic Relief

Comic Relief

The casts of hospital dramas Casualty and Holby City are set to team up for the first ever Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief.

The casts of Casualty and Holby City are preparing to join forces to raise money for Comic Relief, with an all-singing, all-dancing performance.

Casualty star Amanda Henderson, who plays unlucky-in-love nurse Robyn, will be joining co-star Tony Marshall, better-known as receptionist Noel, and Holby City’s Chizzy Akudolu as they take part in the first ever Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief.

Let’s Dance for Comic Relief has become must-watch since Peep Show’s Robert Webb had us crying on our couches with his leotard Flashdance performance in 2009.

This year, the hospital drama cast members will be expected to dig out their dancing shoes, but they are also tasked with singing as part of the performance.

Talking about Let’s Sing and Dance, Amanda said: “I am so excited about being part of this and hoping to raise lots of money for this wonderful charity. It's way out of my comfort zone and the nerves are already here. But here's to a lot of good laughs - probably at our expense!”

The trio will be letting loose on Red Nose Day 2017 with a special rendition of the huge hit phenomenon Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars.

Chizzy said: “Been watching Comic Relief since I was a teen, so being able to actually perform in the show is beyond mind boggling. I'm honoured and hope I sing in tune. If not, oh well, at least the audience will be laughing!!”

Tony added: “We are in it to win it - let's funk it up! It's for great cause so bring on the applause!”

Other stars taking part in the charity competition include actress Sally Lindsay, comedian Sara Pascoe and astrologer Russell Grant.

The new four-part series will be hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins on BBC1.

Red Nose Day returns on Friday 24 March 2017. Donations can be made via rednoseday.com
