Coronation Street fans have been left convinced that soap favourite Becky McDonald is returning to the street.
The former wife of Steve McDonald hasn’t been seen on the cobbles since 2012, despite her sister Kylie being murdered, but following Friday night’s episode, fans are adamant she’s making a comeback.
As Kylie’s killer Clayton sits behind bars, his mother Shona, who is now dating Kylie’s ex-husband David Platt, is desperately trying to have him moved to an open prison.
However, in last night’s episode Leanne Battersby warned her that Becky would return for revenge if she continued her quest to have Clayton moved.
‘It won't just be the Platts who kick off. Kylie's sister Becky, have you met her?’ Leanne asked Shona.
‘She'll definitely have something to say about it. I know she's in Barbados but you wouldn't want to cross her.’
This was all the proof viewers needed to feel confident that Becky, played by Katherine Kelly, is making her long-awaited return to deal with her sister’s killer.
One said: ‘Becky needs to come back asap!!! #corrie’
Another added: ‘when’s becky coming back then cos i miss her @itvcorrie #corrie’.
However, viewers may be waiting a while, as Katherine previously appeared to rule out a return for Becky.
‘[Becky]'s in Barbados,’ Katherine said on Sunday Brunch last September. ‘I reckon she's just propping up a bar somewhere getting tanned.
‘They did leave the door open but why would she go back to Weatherfield when she's running a cocktail bar in Barbados?’
There are also her two children to think about, as Katherine also admitted it would be impossible to juggle motherhood with Corrie.
She added: ‘I loved [Coronation Street]. I was there for five years and I miss it.’
‘It's hard work, they're hard shows to do. I've got two young kids now and I'd never see them if I went back to Corrie.’
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
