Is Phelan's reign of terror really over?

Coronation Street fans were left on the edge of their seats as Pat Phelan finally met his dramatic end on Friday night - but many have a theory that a shock TWIST is on the way.

In spectacular scenes Phelan was stabbed to death by Anna Windass - who returned to the cobbles after he previously raped her and framed her for attempted murder - before she teamed up with Michelle Connor to agree that they’d say it was self-defence.

However, despite Phelan seemingly having taken his last breath, some viewers are worried that his might STILL be alive.

“So come on....who else thought #PatPhelan was going to open his eyes again after he died tonight,” one watcher joked on Twitter, whilst another wrote: “Still not convinced Phelan is dead. Even if they cremate him I won’t be convinced. #Corrie”

Meanwhile one predicted: “3 months time on #Corrie - Pat Phelan is in a B&B in Ireland stitching his chest up with a hotel sewing kit”

And another cleverly quipped: “got a phelan pat ain’t really dead #Corrie”

The idea might seem farfetched but Phelan - played by Connor McIntyre - previously led viewers to believe he was dead when he fell from a cliff in March, yet it was later revealed that he had survived and was recuperating at a bed and breakfast in Ireland under a false name.

Unfortunately for those hoping to see him return though it looks quite unlikely this time, given that he was seen being carried out in a body bag.

Actor Connor has also spoken out to thank fans for their support, with many praising his performance in his final scenes.

“TY Tweeps, 4 all the love, laughs & kindness during my time on #Corrie. I am full of gratitude 4 the opportunities afforded me @ITVCorrie It has been a privilege to entertain u & an honour 2 b forever associated with the most beloved street in the world,” he told his Twitter followers.

We can’t wait to see how life on the street changes after Phelan’s dramatic exit!
