Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn FINALLY breaks her silence on those exit rumours
Corrie has already seen a number of stars quit the soap…
Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn has finally addressed rumours she is the latest star to quit the ITV soap.
The Sinead Tinker actress sparked speculation she is set to walk off the cobbles soon following her appearance on Celebrity Juice on Wednesday.
When host Keith Lemon asked how long she had been playing Sinead, she replied: ‘Too long... I'm joking! I think it’s been about seven years.’
But this left fans questioning if Katie was hinting about a departure from her role, forcing her to address the ‘silly rumours going around’ in an online rant on Friday.
‘Unlucky timing with my sarcastic humour on CelebJuice when these silly rumours are going around,’ she tweeted.
‘I have not ‘quit’ Corrie, I am contracted well into this year & am fully committed to our long running storyline, we do not know the outcome as of yet, which is how we like it!’

She added: ‘I LOVE working at Corrie & LOVE everyone there! It’s a fabulous place to work FYI # luckygal.’
Back in January, Katie admitted there was a ‘50/50’ chance that she'd be leaving the soap once her contract expires later this year, which would make her the eighth actor to quit after seven stars handed in their notice so far this year.
However, a Corrie spokesperson has now addressed the rumours, saying: ‘Katie is fully committed to playing out the extremely important storyline she is currently portraying on screen.
‘This story still has a long way to go. Any speculation threatens to undermine the storyline for viewers.’
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
