Coronation Street favourite Martin Platt is rumoured to be returning to the cobbles as part of on-screen son David's rape storyline.
Corrie favourite Sean Wilson is set to return to the cobbles as part of David Platt's rape storyline, according to reports.
The actor played Martin Platt between 1985 and 2005 before clashing with bosses over a controversial storyline which proposed he have an affair with an underage girl.
Speaking after his exit, Sean, 52, said: "I will act again – but never with Coronation Street.
“They were very rude to me when I left.
“I would rather walk down any other street even if I had a nail in my shoe.”
But with Sean set to reprise his role for a month-long stint amid his on-screen son David's rape storyline, an insider told the Daily Star they believed bosses must have persuaded him to return.
The source told the paper: “They must have bent over backwards to convince him.
“Most stars leave quietly no matter how embittered they might feel about their exits. But Sean didn’t."
Since leaving, Sean has largely turned his back on acting and instead become a chef, having cooked in several Michelin-starred restaurants, and set up his own company making cheese.
His reappearance will delight long time fans of the show, especially as some current favourites are set to leave.
Big names Catherine Tyldesley, 34, who plays barmaid Eva Price, and X Factor champion Shayne Ward, 33, who stars as Aidan Connor, are leaving.
Actor Malcolm Hebden, 78, who plays Norris Cole, is taking an “extended break” and Helen Flanagan, 27, who plays Rosie Webster, will take maternity leave.
Sean, who will return to the soap in March, has not spoken about his U-turn.
