Coronation Street shares first look at favourite character's dramatic return
There's a familiar face making a cobbles comeback in January, when actress Nicola Thorp reprises the role of Nicola Rubinstein - and luckily for us, Coronation Street has shared a sneak-peak of what we can expect from Pat Phelan's daughter...
Coronation Street favourite Nicola Rubinstein is coming back to the cobbles, and actress Nicola Thorp has taken to Twitter to share all the backstage gossip from her first day.
The last time we saw Nicola on screen was back in June when she left Weatherfield behind for a new life in Bristol with her baby Zack. And after all the drama that her late father, Pat Phelan caused shortly before her departure, no one could blame her for wanting to move away.
But it has been revealed that Nicola will be back on out screens in January with more drama to follow, and actress Nicola has revealed on the official Coronation Street Twitter page that she couldn't be happier to be returning...
In the video Nicola has made especially for Corrie fans, the actress reveals: "It's my first day back on the set of Corrie. I'm so excited to be back. I've missed you all.
"It's been a long time now since Phelan's reign of terror, but I hope you're all looking forward to what Nicola's going to get up to in January when she's back on screens.
"Love you all!"

But while Nicola is pleased to be back, not everyone will be happy to see her return. Gary Windass is the father of her little boy Zack, and her return is undoubtedly going to cause problems between him and girlfriend Sarah Platt.
Despite the fact Sarah has forgiven Gary for his one night-stand that left Nicola pregnant, things might be different now that little Zack is right on their doorstep again.
Is Nicola's return set to mark the end of the line for Gary and Sarah's relationship?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Claire is Assistant Managing Editor at What To Watch and has been a journalist for over 15 years, writing about everything from soaps and TV to beauty, entertainment, and even the Royal Family. After starting her career at a soap magazine, she ended up staying for 13 years, and over that time she’s pulled pints in the Rovers Return, sung karaoke in the Emmerdale village hall, taken a stroll around Albert Square, and visited Summer Bay Surf Club in sunny Australia.
After learning some tricks of the trade at websites Digital Spy, Entertainment Daily, and Woman & Home, Claire landed a role at What’s On TV and whattowatch.com writing about all things TV and film, with a particular love for Aussie soaps, Strictly Come Dancing and Bake Off.
She’s interviewed everyone from June Brown — AKA Dot Cotton — to Michelle Keegan, swapped cooking tips with baking legend Mary Berry backstage at the NTAs, and danced the night away with soap stars at countless awards bashes. There’s not a lot she doesn’t know about soaps and TV and can be very handy when a soapy question comes up in a pub quiz!
As well as all things soap-related, Claire also loves running, spa breaks, days out with her kids, and getting lost in a good book.
