Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has been booed by an angry crowd at The X Factor's Boot Camp auditions over her choices to go through to the Judges' Houses round.
The Crazy Stupid Love singer was struggling to choose which of the acts in her girls category should get the six seats to see them through to the next round, a part of Boot Camp where mentors are allowed to swap those who already have a seat if someone better in their category comes along.
According to the Radio Times, she cried twice over the decision and said: "My heart is beating out of my chest. It's overwhelming."
But when Cheryl made one too many unpopular choices, the crowd began to loudly boo her and chant 'bring her back' about one of the singers who had seemed to be safe, but who Cheryl had swapped out for a quirkier act.
She replied: "Oh, boo you too. Do you want to hear me talk or not? I have to mentor these girls. I have to have a connection. I have to make that choice. I'm not bringing her back, I've made my choice.
"If I had six girls who all sang amazingly it would be boring to watch. I want characters, I want personality."
Head judge Simon Cowell stuck up for her, saying: "Let's calm down for a moment. Sitting here is tough and stressful. Bear with her. Give her a couple of minutes to make her mind up."
The Sun reported Cheryl also fell out with sparring partner Louis Walsh when the judge told one act to work on his face after pulling a series of expressions.
The Geordie singer told Louis: "Work on your face," prompting him to reply: "Yeah, but I have only got one."
Cheryl shot back: "And the 50 others."
